Category: Advanced Practice Provider City: Paris State: Tennessee Shift: 8 - Day (United States of America) Job Description Summary: Responsible for planning and directing the delivery of services for women’s health and OB care. Works under general established supervision using protocols as required. Position reporting to the Department Director. Flexible work hours five days a week, subject to non-traditional hours, in an exempt status. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: • Collaborates with the precepting physician in establishing/ reviewing protocols for managing acute and long-term medical needs of the patients. • Performs a complete physical exam, obtain a complete, medical history, and records findings. Orders appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures. Interprets and integrates data to determine the preliminary therapeutic plan. • Provides medical services and health education to all patients under the supervision of the Nurse Practitioner's preceptor. • Performs necessary diagnostic and therapeutic procedures according to approved protocols developed with and under the supervision of the Nurse Practitioner'spreceptor which may include the following; securing, recording and evaluating the health, psychosocial, and developmental history of patients, ordering laboratory and x-ray studies, carrying out prescription drug orders under protocols, management of common or chronic illnesses, referrals, etc. Documents the processes of nursing care delivered. • Administers or gives orders to nursing support to administer medications and injections in compliance with state law and clinic guidelines. • Functions as a patient advocate. Conducts follow-up care and coordinates care with other health care providers and makes appropriate referrals for continuity of care. • Maintains accurate and complete medical records in a timely fashion. • Demonstrates effective guest excellence with patients, families and guest. • Provides educational counseling that will enhance patient care and preventative knowledge. • Participates in the selection, supervision and evaluation of clinical personnel utilized in the clinic. • Contributes to a positive work climate and the overall team effort of the department. • Performs related responsibilities as required or directed. JOB SPECIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: • BSN and a Master's Degree in Nursing with successful completion of a Nurse Practitioner with a specialty in women’s health and midwifery as approved by the state of Tennessee. LICENSURE, REGISTRATION, CERTIFICATION: • RN License, APN Certification for WHNP, AMCB certification, and ACLS certification. Must obtain current DEA license issued by the Drug Enforcement Agency. EXPERIENCE: • Prefer two years of experience in a clinical setting. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: • Knowledge of nurse practitioner principles and techniques. Demonstrate the ability to work cooperatively and productively in a team environment with a diverse set of employees, patients and families. Possesses computer skills sufficient to conduct word processing for document development and patient record documentation.
