St. Vincent's Behavioral Health Center, located at 47 Long Lots Rd, Westport, is a 76-bed inpatient psychiatric facility focusing on care for children, adolescents, and adults facing mental health and dual diagnosis substance use disorders. Job Summary:
• Provide exceptional direct care to behavioral health patients in line with established facility policies and procedures.
Responsibilities:
• Conduct comprehensive bio-psychosocial assessments, establishing nursing care plans aligned with the master treatment plan.
• Participate in treatment team conferences to help formulate and update patient-centered goals, objectives, and interventions.
• Implement nursing care plans for designated patients and co-lead engaging group therapy sessions.
• Monitor and assess patient responses to treatments, modifying care plans as needed and collaborating with the treatment team to adapt goals based on patient needs.
• Perform thorough assessments to identify the physical, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual, and age-related requirements of patients for personalized care delivery.
• Document and develop comprehensive care plans collaboratively with patients and their families to address diverse needs.
• Administer care following physician's orders and protocols, ensuring meticulous documentation and compliance.
• Recognize and evaluate changes in patients' conditions, adjusting care strategies accordingly.
• Delegate tasks to nursing staff based on their qualifications and expertise.
• Exhibit knowledge and skills necessary for effective care with behavioral health patients, promoting collaborative teamwork within the interdisciplinary environment.
• Perform additional duties as required.
• Adhere to the ANA Scope and Standards of Nursing Practice, Code of Ethics, and Social Policy Statement.
Qualifications:
• Active Registered Nurse license from the Connecticut Department of Public Health required before hire or transfer.
• Certification as a BLS Provider from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required within 60 days post-hire or transfer.
• Associate's Degree required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
• Previous experience in an acute care psychiatric setting is favored.
• Demonstrate leadership skills and the ability to manage high-stress situations, utilizing methods outlined in MOAB training.
