The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) provides comprehensive, patient-centered sexual and reproductive health care with a primary focus on family planning, STI/STD testing and treatment, gender-affirming hormone therapy (GAHT), and women’s health services. The APRN also supports abortion services by assisting with registered nurse (RN) duties as needed and works on development, review, and maintaining of clinical protocols related to sexual and reproductive health. This role is ideal for a clinically skilled, collaborative provider who is committed to reproductive justice, inclusive care, and evidence-based practice within a multidisciplinary clinical environment.
Key Functions/Responsibilities
Clinical Care
• Provide comprehensive family planning services, including contraception counseling, initiation, and management.
• Perform STI/STD screening, diagnosis, treatment, follow-up, and patient education in accordance with CDC and state guidelines.
• Deliver gender-affirming hormone therapy (GAHT), including patient assessment, informed consent, prescribing, monitoring, and ongoing care.
• Provide women’s health services, including wellness exams, reproductive health assessments, and preventive care within scope of practice.
• Order, interpret, and document diagnostic tests and laboratory results.
• Prescribe medications in accordance with licensure, organizational policy, and state and federal regulations.
• Maintain timely, accurate, and compliant medical documentation in the electronic health record.
Abortion Services
• Assist with duties in abortion services as needed, including patient preparation, clinical support, recovery assistance, and patient education.
• Support patient flow and continuity of care during abortion care services while respecting established clinical roles and union boundaries.
• Adhere to all abortion care protocols, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Perform duties within the allowed scope of an APRN within the state of Kansas.
Protocol Development
• Lead initiatives to draft, revise, and maintain clinical protocols related to sexual health, STI/STD care, GAHT, and family planning services.
• Stay current on clinical best practices, regulatory changes, and emerging evidence related to sexual and reproductive health.
• Participate in quality assurance, chart review, and continuous improvement initiatives as assigned.
• Serve as a clinical resource to nursing and support staff on sexual and reproductive health topics.

• Provide trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and gender-inclusive care to patients of all backgrounds.

Requirements
Qualifications:
• Current, unrestricted APRN license in the State of Kansas - Required
• National certification as a Nurse Practitioner (FNP, WHNP, or other relevant specialty). - Required
• Prescriptive authority and DEA registration, or ability to obtain prior to start date. - Required
• Experience providing STI/STD care, GAHT, family planning, or women’s health services. - Preferred
• Prior experience in abortion care settings or reproductive health clinics. - Preferred
• Experience with protocol development, clinical guideline writing, or quality improvement work. - Required
• Ability to assist patients as needed, including during clinical procedures/recovery.
• Comfort working in reproductive healthcare that includes abortion services.
