Job Description
**Overview:**
The University of Iowa Health Care Walk-In Clinics is seeking an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) to support our Iowa City/Corridor Walk-In Clinics (Urgent Care/Quick Care Clinics). As an ARNP, you will exercise autonomy in medical decision making and services provided, while also assisting in educating healthcare students and participating in research endeavors. **Responsibilities:**
• Provide care responsibilities in both our QuickCare and Urgent Care Clinics, rotating clinical sites
• Obtain medical history and perform physical examination
• Assess, assist, diagnose, and treat medical or surgical problems and record findings
• Perform or assist in and interpret the performance of laboratory and related studies
• Perform therapeutic procedures such as injections, immunizations, suturing, and care of wounds
• Assist in arranging for continued care, including referrals to appropriate specialty and subspecialty physicians
• Perform and screen results of special medical exams, including electrocardiogram, radiography, audiometric, and vision screening tests
• Instruct and counsel patients regarding physical and mental health
• Evaluate, treat, and institute procedures essential to providing an appropriate response to urgent medical problems
• Maintain awareness of health facilities, agencies, and resources to facilitate patient referrals
• Order medications and administer drugs
• Direct other medical personnel and health professionals in patient care
• Participate in educating healthcare students and committees within the division, department, College of Medicine, and University of Iowa Health Care
• *Qualifications:**
• ARNP: Master's degree required, with a Master's degree in Nursing preferred or a Baccalaureate degree in Nursing if Master's degree is in a related field
• Current license to practice in Iowa required, with licensure as an ARNP in the state of Iowa required
• FNP Certification required
• Demonstrated experience in area of clinical practice, with excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong leadership and interpersonal skills, and demonstrated ability to effectively manage acutely ill patient population
