The ASC Charge Registered Nurse (“Charge Nurse”) position under the direction of the ASC Manager/Director will assist with all nursing care according to the policies, procedures, philosophy and goals of the surgery center. This includes nursing care provided in Admitting, Pre-Op, PACU, Operating Rooms, and Central Processing.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
• Under the direction of the ASC Manager, provides effective supervision to nursing personnel. Coordinates and delegates nursing activities throughout the surgery center.
• Assists the ASC Manager with scheduling of nursing personnel in accordance with established staffing guidelines for each area. Coordinates nurse staffing with the OR schedule to ensure proper coordination of patient care services and economic efficiency.
• Observes staff in daily duties, noting trends and reporting potential quality issues to ASC Manager.
• Compiles and submits monthly statistics to ASC Manager in a timely manner.
• Assumes roles and responsibilities of Pre-Op/PACU Registered Nurse and Operating Room Registered Nurse as schedule and needs dictate.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
• Monitors and evaluates a safe, therapeutic environment for patients and health care providers.
• Monitors the use of materials, supplies, and equipment needed for the successful operation of the surgery center.
• Assists with inventory control and cost containment.
• Adheres to department and surgery center policies regarding equipment usage, maintenance, and disposal of supplies/equipment.
• Assures that patients receive an optimal level of nursing care based on current standards of nursing practice and quality improvement initiatives. Maintains appropriate documentation and submits reports as necessary.
• Facilitates Best Practice activities as directed by ASC Manager. Serves as an additional resource for Best Practices.
• Supports the surgery center’s mission by dependability in attendance, punctuality, the timely completion of care and other assignments, resource and information management, and attention to principles of quality service.
• Communicates appropriate information to ASC Manager in a timely manner.
• Attends staff meetings regularly. Reads and signs minutes of meetings not attended.
• Assumes other duties as assigned by ASC Manager.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, BSN preferred
• Maintain current State RN licensure
• Current BLS and must maintain BLS certification for Health Care Providers
• Current ACLS; or must obtain within 90 days of employment; preferred
• Fundamental leadership skills of planning, organizing, facilitating, coordinating, collaborating and the ability to interact and communicate effectively with team and superiors.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, BSN preferred
