Job Summary: Provide compassionate, patient- and family-centered nursing care in a setting that exemplifies best practices and outstanding customer service. This role fosters relationship-based care and upholds professional nursing standards guided by the ANA Code of Ethics, Nursing Process, and regulatory agency standards. The position supports acute care departments including Medical, Surgery, Emergency, ICU, Childbirth, Pediatrics, Operating Room, Perianesthesia, Endoscopy/GI, and Cardiac Cath Lab.
Essential Responsibilities:
• Effectively manage time and resources, prioritizing critical tasks while balancing short- and long-term goals.
• Apply new knowledge and skills from ongoing education to improve patient care and promote cost-saving practices.
• Make patient care assignments based on nurse expertise, patient acuity, and technical needs.
• Deliver excellent guest relations to patients, visitors, physicians, and colleagues, embodying core values such as respect, integrity, collaboration, empathy, and courage.
• Communicate clearly to manage expectations and provide timely responses to patient needs, ensuring a positive experience.
• Maintain a therapeutic environment by minimizing noise, using electronic devices appropriately, and supporting healthcare students.
• Prioritize safety for patients, guests, associates, and self by adhering to Just Culture principles, HIPAA, and national safety standards.
• Engage in leadership and professional development opportunities, including certification, advanced degrees, and shared governance.
• Foster teamwork by motivating and guiding colleagues, encouraging cooperation, and mentoring others. Education and Experience:
• Graduate of an accredited nursing school or, if unaccredited, a minimum of five years acute care nursing experience.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred or required within five years of hire; enrollment in an accelerated MSN program is acceptable.
• Area-specific certifications such as ACLS, BLS, PALS, or specialty certifications to be obtained and maintained as required. Licensure and Certifications:
• Current active Registered Nurse license as required by the state nursing board.
This part-time position involves 24 scheduled weekly hours, typically 3 shifts per week, including weeknight and every seventh weekend call. Critical care experience is a plus. The role is based in a regional healthcare setting within the Midwest United States.
