Minnesota Veterans Home - Minneapolis is seeking to fill an Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) position. This role will provide leadership, supervision, direction and clinical oversight to the nursing department and report to the Director of Nursing (DON). This leadership role will collaborate with clinical partners, staff, and other leaders to ensure the overall management of nursing aligns with Agency's mission, values, and goals. This role will focus on resident care and delivery of clinical services; serve as on-call Advisor and/or Administrative Officer of the Day and provide back-up, as needed; and serve as acting DON when warranted. This posting will be used to fill a FULL-TIME and primarily DAY shift vacancy at the Minnesota Veterans Homes (MVH) - Minneapolis. The work schedule will include at least 80 hours per 2-week pay period and may include additional work hours, based on business needs. Only applicants whose resumes clearly demonstrate fulfillment of each of these minimum qualifications will be considered for this position. • Licensed in Minnesota as a Registered Nurse, with no restrictions (if you are not currently licensed in Minnesota as a Registered Nurse, you must be able to obtain licensure by date of hire). • Current Basic Life Support or Cardiopulmonary (CPR) Certification. • Three years of supervisory experience in a licensed skill care nursing facility, hospital, or other comparable care facility providing nursing direction for 3 or more professional staff. • Excellent interpersonal skills sufficient to effectively lead and supervise, and develop a work culture of open, accurate and timely communication. • Human relations skills sufficient to effectively direct, guide, influence and supervise a department of nursing staff. • Communication skills sufficient to communicate effectively with others, and to prepare and present information to various individuals and groups. Preferred Qualifications • Bachelor’s or advance degree in Nursing. • Experience working with Veterans and/or vulnerable adults in a senior care setting. • Leadership experience in a union environment. • Experience developing and managing nursing staffing plans using evidence-based strategies focused on quality of care and budget management. • Three (3) or more years of nursing leadership or management experience in a skilled nursing or long-term care setting (e.g. DON, ADON, Nurse Manager). • Experience and working knowledge of CMS regulations, MDS, care planning, quality assurance and performance improvement (QAPI) and Infection Control programs in senior care setting.
