About this unit 6 North is a 32‑bed surgical unit known for its strong learning environment supported by a collaborative and highly skilled nursing team. The unit offers exposure to a wide variety of surgical cases that extend beyond traditional Med‑Surg clinical experiences. Our team cares for patients recovering from a broad spectrum of procedures, including urologic, major and minor abdominal, ENT, bariatric, pulmonary, and peripheral vascular surgeries, as well as general post‑operative needs. The unit also features eight telemetry beds for patients requiring continuous cardiac monitoring. 6 North is a fast‑paced and dynamic environment, offering continuous learning opportunities and a rich variety of patient care experiences. About the position We are seeking a motivated and collaborative Assistant Nurse Manager to join our leadership team on 6 North. Scope of work Under the direction of the nurse manager or other nursing leader, the assistant nurse manager has responsibility for the effective implementation of the philosophy, goals, policies, and procedures of the hospital and the nursing department and their effect on patient care in the department. Qualifications • Effective June 1, 2025, a bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) Required. • Two years of clinical experience Required. • Participation in leadership activities (Unit, hospital, or system Shared Governance meetings, Precepting, Charge nurse role) Preferred. • MI Registered Nurse (RN) Required. • AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required.
