Behavioral Health RN Responsibilities Conduct in-home psychiatric nursing assessments, including evaluation of mental status, psychosocial factors, and safety risks. Provide skilled interventions to manage symptoms of mental illness, including medication administration, teaching, and monitoring. Educate patients and families on mental health conditions, coping strategies, and treatment adherence. Develop and implement individualized care plans focused on behavioral health needs while coordinating with the interdisciplinary team. Collaborate closely with physicians, therapists, social workers, and the Director of Nursing to ensure continuity of care. Document patient progress and update care plans as conditions evolve. Qualifications for Behavioral Health RN Jobs Graduate of an accredited nursing program (BSN preferred). Current California Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing. Minimum of 1 year of professional psychiatric or behavioral health nursing experience (home health or community-based setting preferred). Strong clinical judgment, therapeutic communication, and crisis-intervention skills. Public Health Nurse (PHN) certification a plus.
