Job Description
This opportunity is for a Registered Nurse with pediatric and cardiovascular ICU expertise to deliver specialized care within a leading childrens hospital setting. The role is based in Middleton, WI, at a state-of-the-art pediatric medical and surgical center known for its warm and healing environment. This contract assignment offers a chance to work with a multidisciplinary team supporting critically ill or injured children.
Location Overview
Situated near Madison, WI, this facility is recognized nationally for providing comprehensive pediatric care, including Level One Pediatric Trauma and Level IV NICU services. The hospital is Magnet-designated and collaborates closely with university faculty specialists, creating an environment committed to clinical excellence and family-centered care.
Schedule
• 12-hour shifts rotating every three weeks between days (7:00 am 7:30 pm) and nights (7:00 pm 7:30 am)
• Monday through Friday, with every other weekend and some holidays required
Key Responsibilities
• Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill pediatric patients with complex medical and surgical conditions including neurological, pulmonary, cardiac, transplant, and ECMO cases
• Engage with families to support care and healing in a family-centered environment
• Adapt to staffing needs across multiple units as required during the contract
Desired Experience and Qualifications
• At least 3 years of acute care experience in a high-acuity hospital setting; 1+ year of pediatric ICU experience required, with a strong level II background considered
• Recent EPIC electronic medical record experience preferred (within the last 12 months)
• Wisconsin RN license or compact license from permanent state address
• BLS and PALS certifications through the American Heart Association
• Basic arrhythmia knowledge with a telemetry competency test required before starting
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred
