This opportunity calls for a skilled Registered Nurse with experience in Cardiovascular Intensive Care to provide exceptional patient care in a dynamic ICU setting. This contract position is based in Gretna, LA, offering a rewarding environment where your critical care expertise will be highly valued.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill cardiovascular patients in a 1:2 patient ratio, occasionally adjusting to 1:3.
• Manage complex equipment including Alaris IV pumps, CADD PCA pumps, Servo I ventilators, Fresenius CRRT dialysis machines, and Edwards Lifesciences cardiac monitors.
• Perform lab sticks, EKGs, line starts, and assist with various cardiac and critical care interventions.
• Float between ICUs, including potential shifts in the Emergency Department and PACU, providing excellent nursing care across units.
• Adhere to isolation precautions, including caring for patients with infectious diseases and proper use of N95 masks.
• Work 12-hour day shifts, including 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule, with no on-call requirements.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
• Minimum of 2 years ICU experience; CVICU experience strongly preferred.
• Proficiency with Epic electronic health records system.
• Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, CPI (CPI may be obtained onsite), and NIH.
• Ability to operate CRRT/NXSTAGE and Impella devices (hard stop requirements).
• Flexibility to float across ICU, ED, PACU, and medical-surgical/PCU units.
