Position Overview
This contingent, night-shift Certified Nurse Midwife position at Henry Ford Health offers the opportunity to join a collaborative, hospital-based midwifery practice providing full-scope care across antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and well-woman/gynecologic services. The CNM will manage low- and moderate-risk pregnancies while demonstrating strong clinical judgment in triage, labor management, fetal surveillance, postpartum assessment, and newborn transition, with the ability to recognize and appropriately escalate high-risk conditions. This role requires a minimum of two years of experience as a Certified Nurse Midwife and proficiency in evidence-based practice and clinical guideline implementation, including management of hypertensive disorders, obstetric hemorrhage, sepsis, and breastfeeding support. The ideal candidate will be skilled in patient education, counseling, and shared decision-making, and comfortable working in fast-paced inpatient and outpatient environments within a high-acuity or high-volume setting. This position emphasizes interdisciplinary collaboration with OB/GYNs, maternal-fetal medicine, anesthesia, nursing, NICU, and allied health teams, offering strong clinical support while serving a diverse and medically complex patient population during overnight coverage.
Schedule – Contingent, Nights. 7p-7:30a
Weekend requirement – Yes. Twice a month
Call requirement – Yes. 4 call shifts in a month

Qualifications
• NP – Completion of a Nurse Practitioner training program accredited by the Commission on the Collegiate of Nursing Education (CCNE) or the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC)
• PA – Completion of a Physician Assistant training program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA)
• NP – Certification by a certification body recognized by the State of Michigan
• PA – Certification by National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
Licensure and Certification
• Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the state of Michigan, or in process of applying (must have proof of application)
• National certification as an NP or PA (e.g., ANCC, AANP, NCCPA)
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• DEA/CSL, required through credentialing.
• DEA - NPs do not have controlled substance licenses, only PAs. When NPs apply, they will enter MI license number instead of controlled substance license since they won't have a CSL.
Department would work with provider to get certified after hiring as well.
Experience
• 2+ years experience in a Certified Nurse Midwife role preferred.
