Summary

Responsible for administering anesthesia, monitoring patients vital signs, and overseeing patient recovery from anesthesia. Assist with anesthesia-related medical and emergency situations such as airway maintenance and pulmonary ventilation. Required to comply with rules and regulations of all applicable federal, state, and local laws as well as all KRMC policies and Medical Staff rules and regulations.
• CRNAs shall maintain excellence in airway management and shall be familiar with the usage of all airway adjuncts. i.e., Glidescope, fiberoptic scope, ILMA, etc.
• CRNAs shall work within their scope of delineated clinical privileges and within the State of Nebraskas scope of practice. They must also maintain all required continuing education credits, credentialing, ACLS, professional licensure, insurance payer enrollment, and completion of all required employer/hospital training (Computer Based Learning) on time.
• CRNAs must also participate in pre-anesthetic preparation and evaluation.
• This includes preparing anesthesia equipment and supplies anticipated for the procedure.
• Perform a pre-anesthetic assessment and develop a specific anesthesia plan of care for each patient and or procedure.
• The patient specific anesthesia plan of care is formulated from the pre-surgical assessment and is reviewed with the attending anesthesiologist for patients with multiple confounding medical problems and or when the anesthetic is anticipated to be extra challenging or difficult.
• CRNAs will execute the patient-specific plan for anesthesia care including:
• Maintain the appropriate confidentiality of patient information at all times.
• In accordance with departmental and regulatory compliance standards, CRNA will review appropriate documentation for informed consent and identify appropriate surgical site. Participate in surgical pause in the OR with entire surgical team in accordance with departmental and regulatory compliance standards.
• Use appropriate non-invasive and invasive monitoring devices for continuous evaluation of the patients physical status are selected, applied and/or inserted.
• Use anesthetics, adjuvant and accessory drugs and fluids necessary to manage the anesthetic.
• Implements, monitors and adjusts patients physiologic condition as appropriate for type of anesthesia and specific patients needs.
• Monitor the patients physical response to the anesthetic and initiate corrective measures.
• Monitor airway, oxygenation and pulmonary status. C. Monitor cardiovascular status.
• Monitor temperature, and neuromuscular function.
• Access positioning and make changes as needed for patient safety.
• Provide emergence and recovery from anesthesia.
• Determine the need for additional laboratory tests and provide resuscitative care as necessary
• Transfers the responsibility for care of the patient to other qualified providers post-operatively to assure continuity of care and patient safety.
• Communicate appropriately with all individuals involved in the peri-operative and post-operative care of the patient.
• Report and complete documentation are provided upon transfer of the patient from intraoperative to post-operative care provider.
• Provide acute and chronic post-operative pain management modalities. D. Select medications, fluids and ventilatory support necessary to facilitate recovery from anesthesia.
• Provide post anesthesia follow-up evaluation and care as needed.

Education/Experience:
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
• Post-graduate degree in Nurse Anesthesia
• Current RN licensure in the state of Nebraska
• Current CRNA licensure in the state of Nebraska.
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification.
