Charge Nurse (RN) - CCU in Beckley, WV

Job Type: Full-Time Shift: Nights (7 PM - 7 AM) Position Summary The Charge Nurse (RN) provides nursing leadership and clinical oversight for an assigned shift and unit. This role is responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care, effective staff coordination, and compliance with clinical and operational standards. The Charge Nurse serves as a clinical resource and mentor to nursing and support staff, promoting teamwork, accountability, and excellence in patient outcomes. Reports to: Nurse Manager / Director of Nursing FLSA: Non-Exempt Education and Licensure • Education: Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred. • License: Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Kentucky. • Certifications: • BLS (CPR) certification - required upon hire • ACLS and PALS - required within 6 months of hire • Specialty certification preferred (e.g., CCRN) Required Skills • Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills. • Demonstrated leadership and mentoring capabilities. • Ability to function independently in a fast-paced and high-acuity environment. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. • Commitment to evidence-based practice and continuous professional growth. Essential Job Functions • Provides direct supervision and mentorship to nursing and support staff during the assigned shift. • Determines and adjusts staffing levels based on census, patient acuity, and staff competency. • Provides hands-on patient care when necessary and assists staff in complex clinical situations. • Oversees and evaluates the quality and effectiveness of patient care delivery. • Responds promptly to patient, family, or staff concerns, resolving issues through appropriate channels. • Facilitates admissions, discharges, and transfers to ensure seamless patient flow. • Monitors and ensures availability of necessary equipment and supplies. • Promotes a culture of safety and adherence to clinical protocols and regulatory standards. • Encourages and supports professional development among team members.
