Charge Nurse (RN) – CCUJob Type: Full-Time
Shift: Nights (7 PM – 7 AM)Position SummaryThe Charge Nurse (RN) provides nursing leadership and clinical oversight for an assigned shift and unit. This role is responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care, effective staff coordination, and compliance with clinical and operational standards. The Charge Nurse serves as a clinical resource and mentor to nursing and support staff, promoting teamwork, accountability, and excellence in patient outcomes.Reports to: Nurse Manager / Director of Nursing
FLSA: Non-ExemptEducation and LicensureEducation: Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.License: Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Kentucky.Certifications:BLS (CPR) certification – required upon hireACLS and PALS – required within 6 months of hireSpecialty certification preferred (e.g., CCRN)Required SkillsStrong critical thinking and decision-making skills.Demonstrated leadership and mentoring capabilities.Ability to function independently in a fast-paced and high-acuity environment.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Commitment to evidence-based practice and continuous professional growth.Essential Job FunctionsProvides direct supervision and mentorship to nursing and support staff during the assigned shift.Determines and adjusts staffing levels based on census, patient acuity, and staff competency.Provides hands-on patient care when necessary and assists staff in complex clinical situations.Oversees and evaluates the quality and effectiveness of patient care delivery.Responds promptly to patient, family, or staff concerns, resolving issues through appropriate channels.Facilitates admissions, discharges, and transfers to ensure seamless patient flow.Monitors and ensures availability of necessary equipment and supplies.Promotes a culture of safety and adherence to clinical protocols and regulatory standards.Encourages and supports professional development among team members.Department OverviewJoin our Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU) team — a 12-bed critical care unit dedicated to providing specialized care for cardiac patients.
