Charge Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical/Surgical Unit Position Title: Charge RN – MedSurg Department: Medical/Surgical (20‑Bed Unit) Employment Type: Full-Time Shifts: Day shift; charge nurse differential applies. Position Summary We are seeking an experienced and motivated Charge Registered Nurse to join our 20‑bed Medical/Surgical unit. The Charge RN plays a key leadership role in ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care. This position is responsible for coordinating daily unit operations, supporting clinical staff, facilitating patient flow, and serving as a resource and role model for nursing excellence. Responsibilities • Provide leadership and supervision to MedSurg nursing staff during assigned shift. • Coordinate patient assignments, admissions, discharges, and transfers to maintain optimal unit flow. • Serve as a clinical resource to nursing staff, assisting with problem-solving and decision-making. • Support staff in delivering evidence-based, patient‑centered care. • Monitor and ensure compliance with organizational policies, regulatory standards, and documentation requirements. • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes and unit efficiency. • Participate in staff development, mentoring, and promoting a positive work environment. • Escalate operational or clinical concerns to leadership when needed. Required Qualifications • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing. • Minimum 2 years of Medical/Surgical nursing experience. • Strong critical thinking, organizational, and communication skills. • Ability to lead, mentor, and collaborate with a diverse clinical team. Preferred Qualifications • Previous charge nurse, preceptor, or other formal/informal leadership experience.
