Clinic Registered Nurse in Athens, GA

Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive clinical expertise, including experience with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, and have a strong background in various specialties such as critical care, emergency medicine, geriatrics, and post-acute care. This role involves providing comprehensive patient care in an outpatient setting, ensuring adherence to HIPAA regulations, and maintaining high standards of medical documentation and patient safety. The Registered Nurse will play a vital role in delivering compassionate care tailored to diverse patient populations, including those with developmental disabilities, dementia, or requiring hospice & palliative medicine. Duties • Provides direct patient care, assessments, and education in outpatient settings, serving as a primary liaison between patients and providers • Taking vital signs, conducting physical assessments, monitoring patient progress, and documenting symptoms. • Manages the daily operations of clinical trials, ensuring compliance with protocols, regulations, and ethical standards while providing nursing care to study subjects • Triage & Communication: Acting as the first point of contact for patient inquiries, performing telephone triage, and delivering lab results. • Administer medications and injections accurately while following aseptic techniques and infection control protocols. • Perform diagnostic evaluations such as laboratory specimen collection/processing. • Document all patient interactions meticulously using EMR/EHR systems like EPIC while ensuring compliance with HIPAA standards. • Educate patients and families on health management strategies for inpatient and outpatient procedures. • Instructing patients on disease management, medications, and self-care. • Maintain sterile processing protocols for procedures and ensure infection control measures are strictly followed. • Assist in complex procedures such as thoracentesis and laryngoscopy when required. • Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with medical terminology updates like ICD-10/ICD-9 coding or CPT coding. Skills • Proven experience in diverse clinical settings such as ICU, emergency room (ER), urgent care centers, outpatient clinics, nursing homes (long-term care), assisted living facilities, or home & community care environments. • Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems including Epic; familiarity with medical imaging techniques like sonography. • Strong knowledge of physiology and anatomy to perform accurate assessments and diagnostic evaluations. • Skilled in medication administration including injections and venipuncture. • Excellent patient communication skills tailored to working with children (pediatric nursing), elderly populations (geriatrics), or individuals with disabilities or cognitive impairments such as dementia or developmental disabilities. • Knowledge of infection control practices and sterile techniques essential for surgical assistance or sterile processing tasks. • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is mandatory; This position offers an opportunity to be part of a dynamic healthcare environment committed to delivering exceptional patient-centered care across multiple specialties while fostering professional growth through ongoing education and training opportunities.
