Your Role on the Team
Position Summary: Incumbent provides patient care to an assigned group of patients in the Infusion Center. The nurse incorporates the psycho-motor and age appropriate cognitive skills of the patient/family/significant other utilizing knowledge of patient assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation. Assists in patient research and reviews patient schedules against available protocols. Acts as a role model to students and Clinical Nurse's new to the unit. Functions as a (PCC)Patient Care Coordinator as requested by the supervisor/manager.
What It Takes to be Successful
Required Qualifications:
One year of Oncology experience or one year of MedSurg experience and completion of OCN Cancer Basics class
Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
Minimum of six months demonstrated nursing experience
Knowledge and practice of body mechanics
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
Demonstrated knowledge and practice of infection control techniques
Current chemotheropy/biotherapy card required within 3 months of hire
Current California RN license
Current BLS certification
All external candidates must have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing
Ability to work effectively with colleagues, physicians and others as part of a care team
Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
Preferred Qualifications:
Understanding of JCAHO requirements
Oncology Certification
Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms
Bilingual skills to communicate effectively with patients and families
