Department/Unit: Post Cardiothoracic Surgery - C8 Work Shift: Day Salary Range: $83,200.00 - $93,184.00 Are you a compassionate and skilled nurse looking to make a significant impact in the lives of patients recovering from cardiothoracic surgery? Join our dedicated team at Albany Medical Center, where you will: • Implement physician orders, administer medications, start IVs, and perform treatments and special tests in line with company policies and regulations. • Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to assess and identify patients’ conditions. • Evaluate patient needs and responses to care, applying sound nursing judgment in care management decisions. • Provide both primary and emergency care for occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses. • Collaborate with the nursing team to develop comprehensive Plans of Care for each patient. • Guide and direct ancillary personnel while upholding standards of professional nursing. Qualifications: • Graduate of a professional nursing program with either a Diploma, Associate Degree, or Baccalaureate Degree. • Current NYS Registered Nurse license is required. • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) must be obtained and maintained. • Prior experience as a PCA or other nursing assistance is preferred. • Willingness to engage in continuing education for performance improvement. • Knowledge of quality concepts and ability to apply problem-solving techniques to enhance patient care quality. Unit Description: The Post-Cardiothoracic Surgical Unit encompasses 27 beds, featuring 7 private and 10 semi-private rooms. We serve a diverse patient population comprising acute and chronically ill medical and surgical cardiothoracic patients, mainly aged between 55-75 years, including both male and female patients. Our team primarily cares for individuals who have undergone cardiac or thoracic surgery, as well as those presenting with cardiac diagnoses needing post-procedure telemetry monitoring. Continuous pulse oximetry is available based on specific monitoring criteria established in our unit policy. We also accept patients with known or suspected cardiac or thoracic conditions deemed stable, alongside other medical/surgical cases, depending on bed availability.
