Additional Information About the Role The General Surgery floor is located on north campus in the Schoenberg Pavilion and is a bariatric center of excellence. The nurses care for patients who undergo innovative surgeries including plastic reconstruction, minimally invasive surgery, endocrine oncology, and ophthalmology. Staff care for a variety of patients, including those experiencing minimally invasive, endocrine oncology, plastic reconstruction, orthopedics, ophthalmology, or bariatric surgeries. Our bariatric program is accredited as a Center of Excellence. We see patients from around the world who come to us for nerve and tendon transfers. Preferred Qualifications Role Purpose Provides direct patient care activities including assessment, diagnosis, planning implementation, and evaluation within the guidelines of the standards of nursing care. Responsibilities • Promotes patient and family centered care in a healing environment. Educates patients and their families on how to manage their illness or injury, including post treatment home care needs and medication administration. • Participates in activities that promote patient safety, quality and regulatory compliance. Participates in professional development. • Develops, implements, and documents individual plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with other members of the interprofessional team and patient, family or caregiver in accordance with the established guidelines and standards of nursing care.
