Job Title: Clinical Registered Nurse

Reports to: Medical Director

Job Summary:

The Clinical Registered Nurse plays a vital role in providing high-quality care and education to patients, helping them understand their health conditions while building trust and rapport. As a key member of the medical team, the RN will ensure efficient operations within the Medical Department and Medication Administration Program.

Education and Experience:
• Valid RN license in good standing (or equivalent in a Nursing Licensure Compact state)
• Minimum of 1 year experience in chemical dependency, substance abuse, psychiatric settings, or related human services
• Completion of TB testing upon hire
• Subject to passing Background and Drug screening
• Completion of required training/certifications in CPR, HIPAA, HIV/AIDS, Verbal De-Escalation, Harassment/Discrimination, Incident Reporting, Infection/STD Risks, HEP B/C, and Abuse, Neglect, Trauma, Exploitation, Understanding SUD, among others mandated by state and the Joint Commission.

Duties/Responsibilities:
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments while adhering to standard nursing procedures.
• Assess and monitor the physical and mental conditions of patients.
• Maintain effective communication with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
• Document and prepare reports on patient/client records, using necessary computer skills.
• Report symptoms, reactions, and progress of patients to clinical supervisors and take appropriate actions.
• Initiate changes to improve patient care and discuss them with the physician when appropriate.
• Participate in defining, interpreting, and implementing nursing care standards, policies, and procedures.
• Engage in regular training and in-service activities.
• Perform other assigned duties as required.

Requirements:

Required Skills/Abilities:
• Ability to collaborate effectively in a team and demonstrate strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to thrive under stress and adapt to shifting departmental needs.
• Familiarity with DCF and TJC standards.
• Adherence to state and federal privacy regulations, including HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2.
• Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
• Understanding of patient confidentiality laws.
• Commitment to Drug Free Workplace Policies.
• Completion of required Harassment and Discrimination training.
• Knowledge of Corporate Integrity and Compliance Programs.
• Familiarity with current technologies (such as KIPU).
• Understanding of Substance Use Disorder with a minimum score of 70% on related training.
• Familiarity with COWS/CIWA with a minimum score of 70% on related training.
• Knowledge of community resources or contacts within the facility for assistance.

Physical Requirements:

Employees must meet the following physical demands to successfully perform the essential functions of this job, with reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities. Frequent lifting/moving of up to 10 pounds and occasional lifting/moving of up to 25 pounds may be required. Regular duties include talking or hearing, with frequent standing, walking, and sitting. Occasional tasks may require the use of hands for handling, reaching, climbing, or balancing, as well as stooping, kneeling, or crawling.

Working Conditions and Environment:
• Employees may encounter a moderate noise level in the work environment.
• Work may be performed both indoors and outdoors, with potential exposure to aggressive situations.
• Possible exposure to airborne/blood-borne pathogens and other infectious diseases.
