Roles & Responsibilities
• Provide hands-on clinical support and expert guidance to nursing staff, students, and new hires
• Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate orientation and ongoing education programs
• Serve as a clinical mentor and resource, helping staff build and refine bedside skills
• Support nursing teams with complex patient care, medication administration, and treatment planning
• Analyze patient care data to identify practice gaps and design targeted interventions
• Facilitate adoption of evidence-based practices, new protocols, and clinical equipment
• Act as a liaison between frontline staff and leadership, communicating concerns and feedback
• Perform quality control audits and ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards
Qualifications
• Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license for the state of Alaska
• Nursing degree required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• Minimum of 5 years of acute care nursing experience preferred
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications
• Clinical Competency Assessment (SEARHC) and High Risk Competency (SEARHC) required
• Proven clinical assessment and medication administration skills
• Strong communication, leadership, and ability to mentor staff
Education
• Nursing degree required
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Knowledge & Skills
• Sound knowledge of clinical practice standards, acute care procedures, and safe medication administration
• Experience with evidence-based practice, quality improvement, and regulatory compliance
• Ability to conduct comprehensive patient assessments and assist with specialized procedures
• Skilled in adult learning and teaching methods to optimize staff education
• Proficient with Electronic Health Records and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to remain calm in high-stress situations
• Collaborative approach to interdisciplinary teamwork and patient advocacy
