The Corrections Nurse performs a variety of professional nursing duties focused on delivering high‑quality public health nursing services to inmates housed in the Summit County Corrections Facility. This role requires sound clinical judgment, strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a secure and fast‑paced environment. The nurse works under the general supervision of the Jail Commander or their designee. Job closes 2/24/2026 at 5:00 pm Mountain Time. (Best to use Google Chrome to apply) SALARY RANGE: $75,038.97 - $105,176.79/annually see below MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: • Graduation from an accredited college with an Associate degree in Nursing • No experience necessary OR • An equivalent of education and experience • Must be a Registered Nurse in the State of Utah • Must be CPR certified • Must possess a valid driver's license BENEFITS • Options for a premium free Health Plan • Dental Plan • Life Insurance • State of Utah Retirement • PTO • 401K Match • Orientation Pay Increase - up to 3% increase at the successful completion of six-month orientation period ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS • Provides nursing care to inmates in the Summit County Corrections Facility; work closely with the doctor and dentist on all matters requiring their help; keep accurate records of all medical and dental services rendered to inmates; maintain and control records in a confidential manner allowing only the doctor, nurse and jail administration access. • Responsible for all prescriptions, placing the order with a pharmacy, picking up prescriptions and establishing procedures for prescriptions to be dispensed according to doctor's orders; comply with all state and federal laws in dispensing of prescriptions; properly destroy unused medications that are contained and labeled in a regular prescription bottle by following the proper method of checking them into the Summit County Sheriff=s Office Evidence Room; for unused prescription medication that has been prepared in a bubble pack, return unused portion to participating pharmacy for a refund of any and all unused portions; keep and file records of all medications. • Responsible for performing a DNA test which consists of a cheek swab that is contained in a legal and certified pack from the State of Utah laboratory for the Utah State Prison. Follow the proper method of collecting, logging, and sending the collections specimen to the proper authority at the State Lab or other authorized company appointed by the Utah State Department of Corrections. • As specified by Utah State law and Utah Jail Standards all Correction Officers and law enforcement officers are required to be current on their vaccinations, such as Hepatitis B, tuberculosis and flu vaccine as authorized by Summit County. • Attends various professional seminars, workshops and in-service training as needed to maintain current knowledge of changes and advancements in the correction health industry. • Performs related duties as required.
