As a Critical Care Registered Nurse, you will work under the supervision of the Nurse Manager or Clinical Coordinator, taking on the essential responsibilities of assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating individual patient care on our nursing unit. You will also oversee non-RN personnel, and when in a charge role, you'll delegate and supervise unit activities. Flexibility is key, as you may need to assist in other areas based on patient and staff distributions.
Key Responsibilities:
• Continuously assess patients' physical and psychosocial conditions.
• Develop and document individualized care plans in collaboration with patients, families, and healthcare teams, ensuring clear communication of goals and interventions.
• Implement and coordinate plans of care while collaborating effectively with the healthcare team.
• Evaluate patient responses and the effectiveness of care plans, revising as necessary and making appropriate referrals.
• Plan and provide education tailored to the unique needs of patients and families, documenting outcomes for effective learning.
• Act as a preceptor for new staff, sharing knowledge and fostering a collaborative environment.
• Take on charge nurse responsibilities, overseeing and guiding unit operations.
• Meet performance expectations related to customer service, teamwork, resource utilization, and personal development.
• Demonstrate competency and skill in caring for neuro patients, including assessments, airway management, and specialized procedures.
• Perform suctioning in accordance with established policies and procedures.
• Effectively manage equipment related to halo braces and ventilator support, ensuring high-quality patient care.
Qualifications:
Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred. Proficient in electronic patient records and internet literature searches to support patient care.
Experience: Med/Surg RN experience is a requirement.
Licensure: Valid State of Connecticut Registered Nurse License.
Special Skills: BLS certification is required.
