The Registered Nurse (RN) works under the supervision of the Nurse Manager/Clinical Coordinator to provide exceptional patient care. You will assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and supervise individual patient care on assigned nursing units according to established policies and procedures. Responsibilities include supervising non-RN personnel and, when in a charge role, delegating and overseeing unit activities. Flexibility is essential, as you may be required to work in various nursing units based on staff and patient distribution.

Responsibilities
• Continuously assess patients' physical and psychosocial conditions throughout their care journey.
• Develop, communicate, and document individualized care plans that address patient needs and involve patients, families, and the healthcare team.
• Implement and coordinate the care plan collaboratively with the healthcare team.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of care plans, patient responses, and readiness for discharge, making adjustments as necessary.
• Assess and plan for educational needs of patients and families, providing learning opportunities and documenting outcomes.
• Serve as a preceptor for new staff members.
• Assume charge nurse duties as required.
• Meet performance expectations in customer service, teamwork, resource utilization, and personal development as outlined in performance evaluations.
• Perform other duties as directed to ensure the department/unit operates smoothly.
• Demonstrate competency in caring for neuro patients.
• Exhibit knowledge and skill in neuro assessment and airway management.
• Show proficiency in caring for tracheostomy patients.
• Assist physicians during specialized neuro procedures.
• Familiarize yourself with our 'TIA' teaching program.
• Perform pharyngeal, endotracheal, and tracheostomy suctioning per established policies and procedures.
• Utilize equipment effectively and provide care for patients in a halo brace.
• Understand nursing responsibilities and interventions for ventilator-dependent patients.

Qualifications

Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred. Proficient in computer software and electronic patient records. Ability to perform online literature searches related to patient care.

Experience: N/A

Licensure: Valid Registered Nurse License in the state of Connecticut.

Special Skills: BLS certification required.
