The Critical Care Unit at the Hospital of Central Connecticut is a 24-bed unit featuring all private rooms. Our team includes experienced Registered Nurses, Nurse Assistants, and Administrative Support Staff, with attending Physicians and Mid-level providers available around the clock. Our unit boasts advanced technology, such as Electronic Patient Records, and our staff collaborates in a patient-centered care model within a richly diverse environment.

Job Summary: Under the guidance of Nursing Leadership and in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team, the Registered Nurse utilizes evidence-based practices in line with the State Nurse Practice Act and hospital policies. This role involves developing comprehensive care plans for complex patients, addressing their physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and educational needs.
Qualifications

Education:
• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
• Associate's degree in Nursing.
• Successful completion of a nurse residency program, if applicable.

Experience:
• One year of nursing experience with at least 1000 hours of clinical practice as a licensed RN.
• Experience with IV/line placement required; ACLS certification is a must.
• 1-3 years of CCU or med-surgical experience preferred; Graduate Nurses considered.

Licensure, Certification, Registration:
• Registered Nurse in the State of CT.
• Certified BLS Provider credentialed by the American Heart Association (AHA).
• Additional certifications may be required for specific specialties.

Language Skills: Must effectively communicate in English.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Applies nursing principles and practices.
• Membership in a professional nursing organization preferred.
• Demonstrates ability to plan, deliver, and evaluate patient care.
• Ability to manage a full patient assignment with growing responsibilities.
• Knowledge of high reliability principles.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills to foster a positive work environment and enhance patient outcomes.
• Cultural sensitivity in interactions with patients, families, and colleagues.
• Competence in caring for diverse age groups.
• Collaboration skills in a team environment.
• Ability to act as a preceptor and charge nurse as needed.
• Self-directed with clinical responsibilities.
• Skill in organizing and prioritizing multiple clinical tasks.
• Proficient computer skills and adaptability to new technologies as needed.
