A critical care nursing opportunity is available in Marrero, LA, offering experienced RNs a chance to provide specialized care in a dynamic transplant ICU setting. This contract role requires dedication to high-quality patient care with a focus on adult critical care, including complex transplant patient management.
Qualifications/Desired Experience:
• Minimum 2 years of ICU nursing experience
• Epic electronic medical record system experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH Stroke Scale, and CPI (CPI may be obtained onsite)
• Preferred certifications: OCN and CCRN
• Ability to manage patient ratios ranging from 1:1 to 1:3 effectively
• Flexibility to float across adult critical care units, including ED and PACU as needed
• Weekend and holiday shift availability, specifically 4 weekend shifts within a 4-week schedule
• Commitment to professional appearance and adherence to dress code (teal/white scrubs, closed-toe shoes, no artificial nails)
Responsibilities/Duties:
• Provide direct nursing care for pre and post-kidney, liver, and pancreas transplant patients
• Monitor patients with conditions such as encephalopathy, acute kidney injury, and elevated creatinine
• Perform bedside conscious sedation and operate critical care equipment including Alaris IV pumps, CADD PCA pumps, Servo I ventilators, CRRT dialysis machines, bladder scanners, and Arctic Sun temperature management systems
• Adapt to varied patient assignments, including floating between ICU and medical-surgical units as needed
Schedule:
• Night shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
