The Hospital of Central Connecticut is a community teaching hospital offering a range of inpatient and outpatient services, staffed by a professional team dedicated to caring for patients throughout their life span. Our Critical Care Unit features 24 private rooms and is staffed by Registered Nurses, Nurse Assistants, and Administrative Support Staff, with attending Physicians and Mid-level Providers available around the clock. We leverage advanced technology, including Electronic Patient Records, in a collaborative and patient-centered care model in a diverse and dynamic work environment.

Job Summary:

Under the guidance of Nursing Leadership and in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team, the Registered Nurse applies evidence-based practices in accordance with the State Nurse Practice Act and the hospital's policies. This role involves developing comprehensive care plans for a diverse population of patients, addressing their physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and educational needs.

Qualifications:
• Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with an Associate's degree in Nursing. Completion of a nurse residency is beneficial if applicable.
• Experience: At least one year of clinical experience as a licensed RN, with a minimum of 1000 hours. IV/line placement experience is required. ACLS certification is mandatory. 1 to 3 years of CCU experience and/or med-surgical experience preferred; GNR considered.
• Licensure, Certification, Registration: Active Registered Nurse license in the State of CT and BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA). Additional certifications may be necessary for specific specialties.
• Language Skills: Proficiency in English for effective communication.
• Skills and Abilities: Strong understanding of nursing principles and practices, ability to foster a positive work environment, and proficiency in providing age-specific care. Must also demonstrate cultural sensitivity, collaborative teamwork, self-direction, and effective multitasking in clinical responsibilities. Proficient computer skills are essential for adapting to emerging technologies and programs.
