Provide specialized nursing care in a Pediatric Cardiology Intensive Care Unit (PCICU) recognized for excellence and outstanding outcomes. This role involves working a night shift schedule of 3 twelve-hour shifts, with a focus on high-acuity pediatric cardiac patients. The PCICU is a 29-bed, Gold Beacon Award-winning unit, serving as the primary referral center for pediatric cardiac surgery in South Carolina. Location: Positioned in North Charleston, SC, this facility stands as a Level I Trauma Center and Magnet Hospital with a strong commitment to innovative, family-centered care. The hospital features modern amenities, including EPIC electronic charting and convenient parking options at an accessible garage that requires a nominal registration fee. Schedule: • Night shift: 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, working 3 twelve-hour shifts per week • Weekend and holiday rotation required with 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule • Floating within scope of practice may be requested based on unit needs Key Responsibilities: • Deliver comprehensive nursing care to pediatric patients with congenital heart disease and complex cardiac conditions • Manage care for post-operative cardiac surgery patients, including those with Ventricular Assist Devices (VAD), ECMO, CRRT, and heart transplant support • Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team comprising respiratory therapists, dietitians, pharmacists, and more • Provide thorough monitoring in a specialized, high-acuity environment maintaining 1:1 or 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratios based on acuity levels Qualifications: • Minimum of 2 years pediatric cardiac or cardiovascular ICU nursing experience • Current RN licensure in South Carolina or Multi-State Compact license • BLS and PALS certification from American Heart Association required; ACLS preferred • Prior experience with VAD patients is highly desirable • Open to first-time PCICU nurses willing to develop specialty skills • Ability to accommodate block scheduling upon manager approval Benefits: • Dedicated work environment with supportive team and ancillary services • Exposure to advanced pediatric cardiac interventions and technologies • Competitive contract position with opportunity to work locally or within a 60-mile radius This contract opportunity offers a dynamic career path in a nationally recognized pediatric cardiology program.
