An opportunity is available for an experienced Registered Nurse specializing in Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) to provide critical care services on a night shift schedule. This contract position requires advanced nursing skills and a strong background in intensive care to support a high-acuity patient population in a dynamic healthcare setting.

This role is based in New Orleans, Louisiana, a vibrant city renowned for its rich culture, music, and cuisine. The city offers a unique blend of historic charm and modern amenities, providing an engaging environment for both work and leisure.
Responsibilities:
• Deliver direct patient care within a Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit, managing complex cardiovascular and critically ill patients.
• Utilize advanced clinical skills including Impella and CRRT/NXSTage management, as these are mandatory competencies.
• Perform lab sticks, EKGs, and line starts independently.
• Operate specialized medical equipment such as Alaris IV Pumps, CADD PCA Pumps, Servo I Ventilators, Fresenius CRRT Dialysis machines, Edwards Lifesciences Cardiac Monitors, and other critical care devices.
• Float among various ICU settings, including Emergency Department and Post Anesthesia Care Unit, with flexibility to support step-down units as needed.
• Provide care for isolation and Covid-19 patients, adhering to strict infection control protocols, including proper use of N95 masks.
Qualifications / Desired Experience:
• Registered Nurse (RN) license with 2 years ICU experience; CVICU experience highly preferred.
• Proficient with Epic electronic health records.
• Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, CPI (can be obtained onsite), and NIH.
• Ability to work 3 twelve-hour night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) with four weekend shifts in a 4-week rotation.
• Comfortable with a patient load of 1:2, occasionally 1:3; and flexible to float across units.
• Strong critical thinking and communication skills.
