Job Description
Deliver comprehensive nursing care in a dynamic Progressive Care Unit located in Pahoa, HI. This contract role involves working in a 15-bed unit comprised of 3 step-down ICU beds and 12 telemetry beds. The position demands acute care expertise and a strong commitment to patient monitoring and safety.
Location Overview:
Pahoa is a charming town on the Big Island of Hawaii offering a warm climate and beautiful natural surroundings. It provides a peaceful environment balanced with access to essential community services, making it an excellent place for healthcare professionals who enjoy a serene yet engaging lifestyle.
Schedule/Hours:
• 36 hours per week following orientation
• No on-call hours required
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide primary nursing care to patients in Progressive Care and telemetry units
• Monitor telemetry strips and perform continuous cardiac monitoring
• Conduct fingerstick blood sugars and use equipment such as BIPAP and Pyxis medication systems
• Utilize Meditech for electronic charting and documentation
• Float to other acute care units including Medical, Surgical/Peds, ICU, and ER as needed
Qualifications and Experience:
• Minimum 1 year of hospital acute care experience within the last year; Progressive Care and telemetry skills preferred
• Current Hawaii nursing license required by start of assignment
• ACLS preferred; current PALS and NIHSS certifications preferred
• Must be able to attend an employee health appointment the Thursday and Friday before start date
Additional Details:
• Dress code is scrubs
• Floating across various acute care units is part of the role
• Timely arrival before start date is mandatory to complete onboarding requirements
