We are looking for skilled, detail oriented, professional registered nurses for the full-time position of Nursing Consultant for Nursing Support. In this role you will be an integral part of our Public Health Division. Nursing Support is responsible for maintaining the federally funded Nurse Aide Training and Competency Evaluation Programs, Nurse Aide Registry (over 5000 new nurse aides/year) and Paid Dining Assistant Registry. Nursing Support also maintains the state funded Medication Aide Registry(4500 new medication aides/year and over 5000 renewals) and Dialysis Patient Care Technician Registries.

As a Nurse Consultant for Nursing Support you will:
• Administers all aspects related to the regulations applicable to nursing support, including Nurse Aide, Medication Aide and Paid Dining Assistant.
• Develops, reviews, revises and implements department rules, regulations, policies and procedures as they relate to Nurse Aide, Medication Aide and Paid Dining Assistant.
• Provides advice and consultation within and outside of the department on topics involving nursing support.
• Prepares, develops, and presents educational material for public groups, media, and other interested persons around the areas of nursing support.
• Serves as the departmental resource person and consultant on the identified area of nursing support and responds to telephone and correspondence inquiries regarding his/her designated area(s) of nursing support and interprets related statutes, rules, regulations, position statements, advisory opinions and policies.
• Prepares and disseminates statistical data pertinent to assigned areas of responsibility.
• Keeps abreast of state and national trends with potential impact on nursing support and communicates pertinent information concerning the regulatory impact of identified trends.
• Develops strategies and takes advantage of opportunities to inform the public regarding expectations as recipients of nursing support services.
• Prepares written documents for a variety of audiences, which enhance understanding of nursing support regulatory issues and assist in public protection.
• Directs and evaluates work activities directly related to assigned areas of responsibility that are performed by support personnel.
• Provides testimony at administrative law hearings as requested.
• Interprets and applies state and federal laws and standards applicable to assigned areas of responsibility.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm

Pay Rate: $38.472/hour - $51.341/hour. Pay rate may be commensurate with education and/or experience within fiscal constraints, if approved - based on years of LPN and RN work experience.

Requirements / Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications: Licensure in Nebraska as a registered nurse and experience in nursing in a variety of roles; a Bachelor's degree in nursing or a related field is required for the Health Nurse Consultants for the nurse aide and medication aide programs; a Master's degree in nursing is required for Health Nurse Consultants for Education and Practice; experience in health regulation is desirable as is dedication to high standards for nursing practice.
