Job Description

Diagnostic Imaging Nursing is an outpatient department that supports both an inpatient and ambulatory population. The ambulatory population consists of episodic visits, chronic disease management, and procedure support. This fast-paced department provides services seven days a week and on holidays. The Diagnostic Imaging (DI) nurse provides specialized comprehensive and holistic primary nursing services in one or more of the following areas: Diagnostic Imaging, Infusion, Cardiology Procedures, Physiatry and Central Line patients utilizing the professional practice standards established by the Association for Radiologic & Imaging Nursing, the Infusion Nurses Society and the American Nurses’ Association. The DI Nurse serves as a resource for patients, families, internal and external providers and their office staff, nursing (both inpatient and outpatient), and other support services. The nurse must be able to institute life saving measures, follow universal precautions, enforce the use of Time Out, maintain aseptic technique, and strictly adhere to hand hygiene per hospital protocol. Minimum Education • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, BSN preferred. Minimum Work Experience Prior Surgical or Procedural nursing experience Prior telemetry or electrophysiology experience Prior experience with complicated infusions, including biologicsRequired Licenses/Certifications • Licensed in the State of Vermont. • BLS Certification through American Heart Association. • ACLS Certification* • PALS Certification** • Must be acquired within 90 days of hire. • *Must be acquired within 12 months of hire. Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities • Demonstrated proficiency in acute care or ambulatory nursing, knowledge, and skills. • Demonstrates moderate knowledge of basic computer skills. • Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills. • Demonstrated attention to detail to ensure information accuracy. • Strong analytical skills and critical thinking ability. • Able to acquire or possesses process-oriented perspective. • Demonstrated proficiency in Radiology and Infusion nursing preferred. • Demonstrated proficiency in Cardiology and Electrophysiology preferred. • Proficient in IV insertion preferred. • Proficient in PICC line and/or Midline placement preferred. • Ability and willingness to wear radiation protective apparel for prolonged periods of time.
