Description Summary: A Dialysis Registered Nurse plays a crucial role in ensuring safe and high-quality patient care throughout the dialysis process. This position involves conducting assessments, diagnosing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care tailored to each patient’s needs. As a team member, you will develop personalized care plans and provide both direct and indirect care during pre-treatment, treatment, and post-treatment stages, including managing medications as prescribed. In this role, you will also ensure the safe and efficient operation of dialysis equipment and supplies, aligning with hospital policies. By practicing responsible resource management and documentation, you will contribute to delivering high-value and sustainable dialysis care. Responsibilities: • Exhibit competencies in self-leadership and teamwork as outlined by OneCHRISTUS. • Maintain hand hygiene and appropriate use of PPE while ensuring a clean working environment. • Effectively operate dialysis equipment while documenting processes accurately. • Perform water treatment procedures and electrolyte additions as per physician instructions. • Conduct thorough pre- and post-dialysis assessments including weight measurement, vital signs, lab reviews, and evaluation of the dialysis access site. • Collect lab specimens in accordance with medical orders and procedures. • Initiate, monitor, and conclude dialysis treatments securely following established protocols. • Respond to dialysis complications, emergencies, and technical problems according to organizational policies. • Administer medications during dialysis treatments, maintaining adherence to policies regarding blood products and ESAs. • Transport patients to and from dialysis to uphold treatment schedules and reduce delays. • Contribute to creating tailored patient care plans. • Ensure the safety of dialysis treatments by performing necessary equipment checks. • Accurately document charges for services rendered to support efficient billing processes. • Manage workflow effectively to maintain operational efficiency. • Accept additional duties as assigned. Education/Skills • Associate's degree in nursing is required; a Bachelor's degree (BSN) is preferred. Experience • 1 year of dialysis experience is required; 1 year in an acute clinical setting is preferred. • Experience in ICU, CCU, ER, or Med/Surg is beneficial. • Relevant clinical patient care experience is preferred. Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications • Must hold a current RN license in the state of employment or a compact license. • BLS, ACLS, and PALS (at CHRISTUS Children's Hospital) certifications are required. All associates must obtain required certifications in accordance with the CHRISTUS Health License and Certification Verification Policy. Work Schedule: 7AM - 7PM Work Type: Per Diem As Needed
