Responsibilities:
As an ED RN, you will play a crucial role in assessing, stabilizing, and treating patients with urgent and emergent conditions in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
• Deliver safe, effective, and timely patient care utilizing the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
• Perform rapid, comprehensive assessments and continuously monitor patients for changes in condition.
• Respond quickly and accurately to emergencies and variations in patient status.
• Communicate patient needs, diagnostic findings, and clinical changes to physicians and the care team.
• Maintain accurate and thorough documentation in compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
• Demonstrate a strong understanding of EMTALA, triage protocols, and mandatory reporting requirements.
• Protect patient rights, privacy, and confidentiality at all times.
• Educate patients and families on care plans, procedures, medications, and discharge instructions.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure safe and coordinated care delivery.
• Maintain competency in cardiac monitoring, arrhythmia interpretation, trauma care, and emergency interventions.
Qualifications:
Education, Experience, Training:
• Current and valid state RN License.
• Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain currency.
• Current ACLS (AHA) certificate within 30 days of hire and maintain currency.
• Current PALS (AHA) certificate or ENPC within 30 days of hire and maintain currency.
• Achieve Basic Arrhythmia Interpretation certification within 30 days of hire.
• Complete Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) within 6 months of hire.
• Minimum of one year experience as a staff RN in an acute care hospital setting; E.R. experience preferred.
• Certification as an Emergency Nurse (CEN) is preferred.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
Facility Specific Requirements:
• In Paramedic Base Station ED: Obtain MICN certification within 12 months of hire and maintain currency.
• For EDAP certified facilities: Complete emergency pediatric courses 1 and 2 within 6 months of hire.
• For Non-OB facilities: Obtain NRP (AHA) certification within 90 days of hire and maintain currency.
