Shift Detail: 7pm-730am, requires an every other weekend and every other holiday rotation. Sign-on bonus eligible for qualified applicants.

The Emergency Department at Backus Hospital is a vibrant 42-bed unit, handling a diverse range of patients in a fast-paced setting. As a Level III Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center, we utilize cutting-edge technologies such as EPIC EMR, Teleneurology, and wireless medication scanning. Our department also features a dedicated behavioral health area to ensure safety and support for all patients and staff. Job Summary: Our RNs thrive in collaborative environments, working with interdisciplinary teams focused on delivering patient-centered care in a richly diverse atmosphere. Under the supervision of the Nurse Manager, the Registered Nurse (RN) applies evidence-based practices in compliance with the State Nurse Practice Act and hospital policies, as well as directives from medical staff. Utilizing a patient-centered approach, the RN develops comprehensive care plans that address the physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and educational needs of both patients and their families.
Qualifications:
• Graduate of a school of nursing; BSN preferred.
• One (1) year of RN experience or completion of The William W. Backus Hospital Nurse Residency Program required.
• BLS required. Ability to obtain and maintain ACLS, TNCC, PALS, and CPI certifications within 90 days of hire.
• Ability to administer moderate sedation within 9 months of hire.
• Current, unrestricted RN license in good standing in Connecticut.
• Certification as an Emergency Nurse, Pediatric Emergency Nurse, or completion of NRP certification preferred.
