
Emergency Nurse (RN) in Edgewood, NM in Barton, NM
Job Description
A critical care nursing position is available in the fast-paced Emergency Department of a Level I Trauma and Teaching Hospital located in Edgewood, NM. This contract role offers an opportunity to work in a renowned acute care facility with a strong focus on trauma and pediatric care. The position emphasizes delivering excellent patient care within a multidisciplinary team in a setting that admits a high percentage of patients from the ED.
Responsibilities include administering medications, including IV, following the seven medication rights, documenting clinical findings thoroughly, and effectively communicating patient status. Nurses will provide care under a 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio and may float within their scope to the Pediatric ED, Adult PCUs, ED Holding, and Trauma departments as staffing needs require. The work schedule consists of night shifts, typically four 12-hour shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, with weekend coverage as needed.
Desired Experience and Qualifications:
• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in emergency care; candidates with 1.5 years will be considered.
• Level I Trauma experience preferred.
• Current New Mexico nursing license or ability to have license pending at submission.
• Certification in ACLS, BLS, PALS, TNCC (TNCC certification is required prior to submission).
• NIH certification may be pending but must be completed before start date.
• Travel nursing experience is strongly preferred, but candidates with at least 2 years of Level I Trauma experience may be considered.
• COVID vaccination required; religious and medical exemptions accepted with proper documentation.
• Ability to work in compliance with the facilitys policies.
Additional Details:
• Contract is offering guaranteed weekly hours of 36, 40, or 48, with facility-allowed call-offs 3 times during a 13-week assignment.
• No on-call duties.
• Floating within scope to meet patient care demand may be necessary.
• Parking is complimentary, and charting is performed using Cerner electronic medical records.
• Scrub color requirement: black.
