Job Description
A registered nurse with emergency room expertise is needed to provide critical care in a high-acuity Level 1 Trauma Center. This contract opportunity is based in Okemos, MI, offering a fast-paced environment within a renowned Stroke and Heart Center as well as a Pediatric Emergency Department. The role involves night shifts and weekend coverage, emphasizing comprehensive trauma and emergency nursing skills.
Schedule/Hours:
• Night shifts: 3 x 12-hour shifts (7:00 PM 7:30 AM)
• Weekend coverage: 3 weekends (FridaySunday) per 4-week schedule
• Floating required; pediatric shift flexibility possible
Key Responsibilities:
• Deliver expert nursing care in a Level 1 trauma, stroke, and pediatric emergency setting
• Manage patient care with attention to dysrhythmia interpretation and continuous procedural sedation techniques
• Utilize EPIC charting system efficiently
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to maintain patient safety and high standards of care, even during elevated patient-to-nurse ratios
Qualifications / Desired Experience:
• Current state RN license
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a Level 1 trauma emergency department setting
• Certification in ACLS, BCLS (by AHA), PALS, and NIH required; TNCC and ENPC certifications highly preferred
• Demonstrated proficiency in interpreting and managing cardiac dysrhythmias
• Experience with EPIC electronic medical records
• Procedural sedation and triage experience strongly preferred
Additional Information:
• The unit experiences nurse-to-patient ratios typically ranging from 1:5-6 but can reach up to 1:8 during high census and holidays
• No call duties outside scheduled shifts
• Local professionals are encouraged to apply; consistent pay regardless of local status
• RTO submission required at time of application; requests for time off during specified dates will not be approved
