Shift Detail: Schedule: 7:00 pm - 7:30 am, rotating holidays and weekends. As an Emergency Room Nurse specializing in Behavioral Health, you will serve as a frontline advocate and healer for patients facing acute psychological crises. This fast-paced and unpredictable work environment is where you can truly make a difference. Your skills become vital in moments of crisis, providing stability and support. Here’s what you will do: • Conduct rapid, trauma-informed assessments for patients undergoing psychiatric emergencies such as acute psychosis, suicidal or homicidal ideation, severe anxiety, substance withdrawal, and behavioral crises. • Utilize expert de-escalation techniques to maintain a safe environment for patients, families, and staff amid volatile situations. • Develop and implement immediate crisis-stabilization plans by collaborating effectively with psychiatrists, social workers, and emergency staff. • Administer psychiatric medications and facilitate necessary emergency interventions while delivering compassionate, patient-centered care. • Perform thorough suicide risk assessments, safety planning, and continuous monitoring for patients at high risk. • Support families and caregivers with clear guidance and education during challenging and emotional situations. • Document swiftly and accurately, capturing behavioral observations and interventions in a dynamic ER setting. Qualifications: • Resilient and emotionally intelligent nurse who excels in unpredictable environments. • Natural communicator with outstanding crisis-management and de-escalation skills. • Compassionate professional dedicated to dignity, respect, and trauma-informed care. • Confident and calm in managing behavioral emergencies. • Team player who fosters trust within interdisciplinary teams. • Graduate of an accredited nursing school (BSN or MSN preferred). • Current Connecticut RN license. • BLS certification by the American Heart Association. • Willingness to obtain and maintain CPI certification within 90 days of hire.
