Summary
Under the direct supervision of the Director of Employee Health and Wellness. The Employee Health & Wellness Registered Nurse will be responsible for performing a variety of routine nursing tasks in the care and treatment of employees that are seen in the employee health office setting. Strong clinical skills and the ability to work independently are necessary to effectively manage the Employee Health Clinic. Multiple nursing tasks are required such as pre-employment nursing assessments, drug screening, managing the respiratory protection program, initial 2-step TB skin tests, review of immunizations and performing phlebotomy for immunity titers or post exposure to bloodborne pathogen follow-up and evaluation. The nurse will also be responsible for organizing the annual influenza campaign. Clerical duties such as chart data entry and scheduling appointments are another component of the position.
This position will have responsibility to conduct employee wellness services under the direction of the Employee Wellness Manager. Assigned duties include providing group presentations, wellness program development and wellness coaching. The Employee Health and Wellness Registered Nurse will be knowledgeable with navigating through Motion Connect and will be responsible for assisting staff with portal registration. The EH & Wellness RN will also participate on several system committees such as the Sunshine committee as well as subsidiary specific wellness groups/committees.
This position requires strong communication and multi-tasking skills. Teamwork and working closely with peers are essential. Computer skills in excel, work and powerpoint preferred. The Employee Health & Wellness Registered Nurse will work collaboratively with the entire Employee Health & Wellness team which will include participation in weekly and monthly meetings and will be actively involved with program development and implementation.
Responsibilities
(50%)* Must be knowledgeable in general employee health nursing tasks and must be able to work independently in regards to managing employee health programming and performing all clinic tasks such as pre-employment screening assessment, vaccinations and respiratory fit testing.
(25%)* Clerical duties such as data entry, running compliance reports, sending follow-up notifications.
(25%)* Communicable disease follow-up, contact tracing, ordering laboratory testing.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Will be required to assist with 24/7 department coverage as needed, this involves after-hours, week-end and holiday call rotations.
Other duties as assigned.

Certifications and Licensures
BLS: Basic Life Support
Required within 1 month of hire or transfer
Active State of Michigan RN, LPN, Paramedic or Certified Medical Assistance licensure required.
Required Education
Associate's Degree in Nursing, LPN technical certificate or Paramedic (high school or equivalent) or Certified Medical Assistant required.
Other Information
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND SKILLS:
Excellent clinical skills and sound judgment.
Drug Screen Certification within 6 months.
Tuberculin skin testing certification with 12 months or as soon as MA is obtained.
WellCoaches certification required within 18 months.
Must meet and maintain acceptable prerequisites as outlined by the WellCoaches and the certification requirements.
Must be flexible with scheduling and be able to manage appointments.
Must have strong telephone skills as telephonic well-coaching is an essential function of this position.
Ability to handle multiple tasks, work well in a team setting.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, as well as, trauma, grief and death.
Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate substitute if required for your position.
Is able to move freely about facility with or without an assisted device and must be able to perform the functions of the job as outlined in the job description.
Overall vision and hearing is necessary with or without assisted device(s).
Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time. May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching.
Some exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material.
Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, regular and predictable attendance and ability to stay awake.
Overall dexterity is required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling. May require repetition of these movements on a regular to frequent basis.
Physical Demand Level: Medium. Must be able to occasionally (0-33% of the workday) lift or carry 21-50 lbs., frequently 34-66% of the workday 20 lbs. and or Walk/Stand/Push/Pull of Arm/Leg controls and constantly (67-100% or the workday) 10 lbs.
