28 hours/week Triage Nurse (RN) to support our Endoscopy Units located at 850 Boylston Street and 75 Francis Street. This position offers flexible 7-hour shifts with start times between 6:30 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.
Job SummaryJob Summary:
The Triage Nurse plays a key leadership role in supporting weekly staffing schedules to optimize patient throughput. This position is approximately 90% triage-based—providing phone triage, in-basket messaging, and on-demand patient communication for upcoming procedures—and 10% on-site at either Endoscopy location for patient-facing or hands-on clinical support as needed. The Triage RN manages patient interactions via telephone and electronic messaging, offering clinical advice in accordance with established protocols and ensuring appropriate care coordination for pre-procedural and post-procedural concerns. Topics may include booking inquiries, preparation questions, post-discharge follow-up, and test result discussions.

The successful candidate will also bring flexibility and problem-solving skills to support coverage during staff absences, leaves, and vacancies—ensuring continuity of care and operational efficiency. This position offers an opportunity to practice to the top of one’s licensure while helping shape a dynamic and evolving role within our procedural nursing team.
Responsibilities Include:
• Triage clinical questions and concerns received via telephone calls and in-basket messaging.
• Provide clinical guidance, education, and support to patients based on assessment findings and established evidence-based protocols.
• Coordinate patient care by collaborating with the scheduling team to ensure appropriate booking and preparation for endoscopic procedures.
• Partner with physicians, advanced practice providers, and interdisciplinary team members to promote seamless communication and continuity of care.
• Participate in the development and implementation of individualized care plans to optimize patient outcomes and procedural readiness.
• Maintain thorough and timely documentation of patient encounters and communications in accordance with institutional and regulatory standards.

- The RN must show evidence of the basic analytic thinking necessary to care for a group of patients.
- Must demonstrate observational skills and the ability to set priorities.
- Must be able to function under stress with good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Must demonstrate effective skills in applying hospital standards in area of service, teamwork, communication, respect for others, and time/priority management.Education

QualificationsExperience:Minimum of 5 years of recent clinical endoscopy nursing experience within both outpatient ambulatory and hospital settings (within the last 6 months required).Minimum of 2 years of recent triage experience managing outpatient and/or inpatient endoscopy patients (within the last 6 months required).Demonstrated leadership experience, including daily staff scheduling and workflow coordination to ensure optimal coverage and efficiency.Proven charge nurse or resource nurse experience in an Endoscopy setting within the last 6 months.Demonstrated ability to develop and refine workflows to maintain alignment with evolving Mass General Brigham (MGB) models and best practices.
