An opportunity is available for a Registered Nurse experienced in both Emergency Room and Psychiatric care. This role is based in Olathe, KS, on a contract basis, providing a challenging and rewarding environment to apply specialized nursing skills in a dynamic setting. Key Qualifications and Experience: • Minimum of 1 year experience in an Emergency Room setting. • At least 1 year of psychiatric nursing experience, preferably in a hospital environment. • Skilled in psychiatric assessments to determine patient disposition. • Experience managing violent or escalated patients with techniques including de-escalation and restraint. • Licensure as an RN in Kansas or a Compact state. • BLS certification required. Responsibilities: • Provide primary nursing care to high-risk psychiatric patients in the Emergency Department including medication administration and safety interventions. • Conduct psychiatric evaluations for all psychiatric patients entering the ER, making decisions regarding discharge, inpatient admission, or involuntary hold. • Coordinate placement, safety planning, and transportation for psychiatric patients. • Collaborate with the Behavioral Response Team to manage and de-escalate crisis situations hospital-wide. • Work independently with significant responsibility for patient assessment and care planning post medical clearance. Schedule and Location: • 12-hour night shifts (7 PM to 7 AM), 3 times per week. • Located in Olathe, Kansas, a city known for its family-friendly atmosphere, excellent schools, and vibrant community activities with easy access to urban amenities.
