Position Summary: The Surgical RN provides specialized nursing care to patients in alignment with physician orders and our clinical policies. You will work collaboratively with physicians and health care teams to ensure optimal patient care, focusing on education and support for patients and their families.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Prepare patients physically and emotionally for procedures.
• Obtain and assess patients' history.
• Monitor patient conditions and report any concerning signs.
• Educate patients about procedures and answer their questions.
• Assist with patient discharge and provide instructions.
• Support other staff in their clinical duties.
• Monitor patient recovery post-procedure.
• Maintain a positive, supportive environment for patients and families.
• Anticipate physician needs during procedures.
• Administer IV medications and follow emergency care guidelines.
• Ensure safety and comfort in the clinical environment.
• Maintain inventory of medical supplies and medications.
• Conduct specimen collection and processing.
• Assist in the setup and performance of surgical procedures.
• Document patient care and participate in quality assurance activities.
• Engage in ongoing education to keep abreast of surgical practices.
• Report equipment malfunctions and suggest improvements.
• Provide guidance to non-licensed personnel.
• Participate in orientation and training for new staff.
• Engage in formal and informal teaching efforts.
• Demonstrate professionalism and accountability in all interactions.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Graduated from an accredited nursing program and possess a valid state RN license.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications are required.
• Minimum of 2 years of recent nursing experience, with a focus on GI and/or critical care preferred.
• Strong technical, organizational, and interpersonal skills are essential.
• Ability to perform physical tasks associated with nursing, including lifting and supporting patients.
• Willingness to travel to various clinic locations as needed.
