Summary:
The skilled Registered Nurse operates independently within a clinical setting, demonstrating comprehensive awareness of patient needs. This role involves providing both routine and intricate care while focusing on long-term patient goals. The nurse will continually refine their ability to manage clinical contingencies and responsibilities, including appropriate delegation to other care providers as needed.

Responsibilities:
• Meets OneCHRISTUS Competencies standards: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
• Delivers nursing care through the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
• Addresses complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families, aligned with nursing practice levels.
• Administers medications and treatments following established protocols; monitors and assesses side effects and treatment efficacy.
• Documents patient histories, symptoms, medications, and care provided accurately.
• Evaluates learning needs, providing education to patients, families, and caregivers while identifying issues and resources.

Job Requirements:

Education/Skills
• Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing is preferred.

Experience
• Minimum 1 year of experience in related nursing specialty is preferred.

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications
• BLS certification is required.
• Active RN license in the state of employment or compact state.

Position Requirements:

Education/Skills
• All newly hired experienced RNs must participate in New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days of hire.
• New hires will be precepted by a designated trained staff member, with onboarding validated through successful completion of competency validations specific to the organization and Perinatal Services.
• Completion of all annual competency verification requirements is mandatory.

Experience
• Experience in a Perinatal RN Residency or recent practice in a Perinatal Setting is preferred.

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications
• Current certification required in one of the following: AWHONN Intermediate FHM, AWHONN Intermediate FHM Instructor, AWHONN Advanced FHM Instructor, AWHONN Instructor Trainer, or NCC Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM).
• Current STABLE certification (Post-resuscitation/Pre-transport Stabilization Care of Sick Infants) required from either Participant, Lead Instructor, or Support Instructor courses.
• Current NRP and ACLS certifications are required.

In accordance with the CHRISTUS Health License, Certification and Registration Verification Policy, all Associates must obtain required certifications within the designated time frame.

Credential Grace Periods:
If additional credentials are required, a grace period applies based on experience level:
• Candidates/Associates with at least one year of acute care clinical experience in a similar service line within the past three years are considered Experienced Associates.
• Candidates/Associates without at least one year of full-time acute care clinical experience in the same service line within the past three years are considered Experienced Associates New to the Specialty.

Credential Grace Periods for Experienced Associates:
• Basic Life Support (BLS): No grace period.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS): Within 30 days of hire.
• Pediatric Life Support (PALS): Within 30 days of hire.
• Trauma Nurse Core Curriculum (TNCC): Within 60 days of hire.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP): Within 30 days of hire.
• AWHONN INTERMEDIATE FHM: Within 30 days of hire.
• STABLE: Within 30 days of hire.
