There is a call requirement of one weekday every two weeks and a weekend rotation approximately every 10 weeks (when fully staffed). Typical Cases: General, Orthopedics, Urology, Gynecology, Neurology, Vascular, Plastics, and Robotics. Note: Call response requirement is 30 minutes. Job Responsibilities and Requirements: PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES • Perform scrub functions including the selection and handling of instruments and supplies for procedures. • Engage in circulating functions such as monitoring and communicating patient conditions, and managing overall nursing care before, during, and after procedures. • Assist operating physicians with surgical tasks, including hemostasis, suturing, wound exposure, and patient positioning. • Prepare operating rooms and surgical instruments and equipment for use. • Apply evidence-based practice and scientific knowledge in delivering nursing care tailored to patients’ age-specific and clinical needs. • Demonstrate professional nursing standards as defined in the professional practice model, guided by the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses. • Maintain a constant state of alertness and safety. • Perform additional duties as assigned. EDUCATION • Graduate of an accredited nursing school or possess equivalent education for licensing. EXPERIENCE • No prior experience is required. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS • Constantly utilize speech for oral communication. • Maintain standing and walking positions for extended periods. • Frequent ability to lift/carry and push/pull objects weighing 0-25 lbs. • Frequent sitting, reaching, and keyboard/data entry activities. • Frequent use of vision for near and far distances and color identification. • Frequent ability to recognize odors and respond to oral communication. • Occasionally lift/carry and push/pull objects weighing 25-50 lbs. • Occasional patient lifting/moving tasks. • Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, gripping, and repetitive leg and arm movements. • Occasional driving responsibilities. • Rarely required to crawl or run.
