The Location: Hale Makua Health Services is a Maui based non-profit that improves the well‑being of those in its care through compassionate personalized health services. We are devoted to helping Maui's Elders live their best lives. Hale Makua's Kahului location is a 254‑bed nursing facility. The Position: We're looking for passionate Graduate Practical Nurses to help us with providing professional nursing care to residents following established policies and procedures of the facility. • Participates in OPH's Nurse Residency Program, which includes: developing clinical and leadership skills to become successful as a full partner within the healthcare team; analysis of evidence through reviews of the literature; application of outcomes data to patient care improvements; professional development; coaching to clinical success. • Under the direction of the preceptor, demonstrates knowledge of the patient's diagnoses, limitations, expectations, plan of health, and current status. • Under the direction of the preceptor, administers medications and treatments as ordered by the physician and according to policy and procedures. • Under the direction of the preceptor, appraises the family, physician and others of changes/incidents. Requirements: • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing within the past 18 months. • Within 4 months of start date in GPN position, must obtain license as License Practical Nurse in the State of Hawaii. • Experience in geriatrics and current nursing standards of practice preferred. • Knowledge of medical terminology and abbreviation required. • BLS First Aid and CPR preferred (can be done in‑house).
