As a Registered Nurse (RN) under the supervision of the Nurse Manager/Clinical Coordinator, you will assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and supervise individualized patient care in accordance with our unit policies and procedures. You may also supervise non-RN personnel, delegate responsibilities when in a charge role, and may need to work on other nursing units based on patient and staff needs. Additional duties may be assigned to maintain high service standards within our organization.
Responsibilities
• Continuously assess patients' physical and psychosocial conditions throughout their care.
• Develop, communicate, and document personalized care plans, addressing individual patient problems and interventions to achieve desired outcomes, involving patients, families, and the healthcare team.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to implement and coordinate care plans effectively.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of care plans and make adjustments as necessary, including referring patients as indicated.
• Plan educational initiatives based on patient and family learning needs and document the outcomes.
• Act as a preceptor for new staff members.
• Take on charge nurse responsibilities when required.
• Meet performance metrics for customer service, teamwork, resource utilization, and personal development.
• Perform additional duties as necessary to ensure the operational success of the unit.
• Exhibit competence in neuro patient care.
• Demonstrate knowledge and skills in neuro assessment and airway management.
• Assist with care for tracheostomy patients and during special neuro procedures.
• Familiarize yourself with our 'TIA' teaching program.
• Perform suctioning procedures according to established policies.
• Show proficiency in using equipment and care for patients in a halo brace.
• Understand nursing responsibilities and interventions for ventilated patients.
Qualifications
Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred. Proficient in computer software, including electronic patient records, and capable of conducting literature searches online for patient care.
Experience: Not applicable.
Licensure: Valid Connecticut Registered Nurse License.
Special Skills: BLS certification required.
