
Hospital PACU Nurse - Keaau, Hawaii in Hawaiian Acres, HI
Job Description
Nursing degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1+ years RN experience required.
Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Providing specialized care in the post-anesthesia setting, this role requires an experienced registered nurse skilled in patient assessment and recovery management immediately following surgery.
The position involves caring for patients through pre-operative stages, Phase I, and Phase II recovery, using advanced knowledge of anesthesiology and critical care.
Candidates with a strong critical care background, including ER or ICU experience, will thrive in this fast-paced environment where proactive monitoring and quick thinking are essential.
Key Qualifications & Desired Experience:
Minimum of 2 years as a critical care RN (ER, ICU) or PACU nurse experience in a hospital setting
Valid BLS and ACLS certification from the American Heart Association
Active professional nursing license in the state of Hawaii (must be obtained prior to assignment start)
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification recommended and may be required
Additional specialty certifications (e.g., NIHSS, TNCC) preferred
Ability to work varied shifts including days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, and occasionally on-call
Responsibilities:
Provide comprehensive care for post-operative patients, including monitoring vital signs, incision sites, and possible complications
Utilize medical equipment such as Meditech, PCA Pumps, Pyxis, Braun IV Pumps, Cryocuff, SCDs, Bair PAWS Warmers, and advanced monitors
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless patient recovery and safety
Follow facility protocols including flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemptions
Schedule & Location:
Flexible shifts ranging from 8, 10, to 12 hours across ASU and PACU units
On-call shifts up to 3 times per month for night and weekend coverage

Candidates must arrive Thursday prior to start date for mandatory employee health clearance.
