This role is under the direction of the Nurse Manager/Clinical Coordinator. As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and supervise personalized patient care on our critical nursing units in accordance with established policies and procedures. You will also oversee non-RN personnel and may float to other units based on staffing needs. Additional responsibilities will be assigned to ensure a high level of service is maintained.

Responsibilities
As a valued member of our nursing team, your key responsibilities will include:
• Continuously assessing the physical and psychosocial conditions of patients throughout their care journey.
• Developing, communicating, and documenting individualized care plans that involve the patient, family, and healthcare team for optimal outcomes.
• Implementing and coordinating care plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary healthcare team.
• Evaluating care plan effectiveness and patient responses, adjusting care plans as necessary, and making referrals as indicated.
• Planning and providing educational opportunities for patients and families based on assessed needs and readiness, and documenting outcomes.
• Serving as a preceptor for new staff members.
• Fulfilling the responsibilities of a Charge Nurse when required.
• Meeting performance expectations in customer service, teamwork, resource utilization, and personal and staff development as outlined in the performance review.
• Performing additional duties as assigned to ensure smooth operations within the unit.
• Providing competent care for neuro patients, including skillful neuro assessments.
• Administering effective airway management for neuro patients, including care for trached individuals.
• Assisting physicians and caring for patients during specialized neuro procedures.
• Understanding and implementing the 'TIA' teaching program.
• Performing pharyngeal, endotracheal, and tracheostomy suctioning per established policies.
• Demonstrating skill and knowledge in managing patients in halo braces and on ventilators.

Qualifications
To be qualified for this position, you must have:
• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing; a BSN is preferred.
• Proficiency in electronic patient records and the ability to conduct literature searches to enhance patient care.
• A minimum of 1 year of acute nursing experience is required; experience in critical care or emergency settings is preferred.
• A valid RN license in the State of Connecticut.
• BLS certification.
