A rewarding opportunity is available for a Registered Nurse specializing in Neurosurgical and Neurological Intensive Care to support a Neuro Critical Care unit. This contract position offers a chance to provide expert care in a highly specialized setting, working nights with a focus on complex neurological patients. Location: Carmel, IN This role is positioned within a dedicated neuro ICU unit that includes 10 beds and manages patients with conditions such as ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke, post-operative craniotomy, seizures, encephalopathy, and neurological tumors. The unit prides itself on using advanced equipment and providing personalized, critical care with patient ratios from 1:1 to 1:3. Key Responsibilities: • Deliver comprehensive assessments and nursing care for hemodynamically unstable and mechanically ventilated patients • Conduct thorough neurological assessments and manage critical care equipment including Alaris Pumps, Arctic Sun, Prismax, EV 1000, and Neuroptics Pupillometer • Maintain care standards for patients with complex neurological conditions including stroke and post-op status • Float to other inpatient areas when census is low to ensure consistent patient care across the facility • Utilize electronic medical records (Epic) efficiently for patient documentation Qualifications and Experience: • Registered Nurse licensure with at least 2 years of Neuro ICU experience • Current ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required • Skilled in caring for mechanically ventilated patients and managing ICP waveforms, EVD, CRRT is preferred • Strong teamwork, positivity, flexibility, and empathy align with unit culture Schedule and Hours: • Night shift: 7:00 pm to 7:30 am • Guaranteed 36 hours per week • Every other weekend commitment Additional Information: • Scrubs in navy color required; hoodies are not permitted • Orientation includes mandatory modules, Epic training if necessary, and one day of unit orientation • Report to the specified unit location with employee parking provided This contract role offers the chance to enhance your neuro ICU expertise within a supportive, state-of-the-art environment.
